The Project
DART project aims to promote synergies between sport and health, promote inclusion in sport, promote health-enhancing physical activity for people with diabetes type I and II, encourage healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of the added value of sport and physical activity.
DART objectives are achieved through the design and implementation of innovative digital tools and training e-modules.
Specifically, DART project has developed and implemented:
a) APP: an innovative, fun and eco-friendly Mobile app in 7 language versions using an Augmented reality Personal trainer teaching diabetic patients specialized physical exercises that help:
-reduce blood pressure,
-lower the levels of fats in the blood,
-keep the heart healthy,
-improve blood sugar levels and prevent excess weight gain.
Also, the app includes geofence technology for outdoor activities, a customized calendar for inserting medicines, doctors’ appointments etc. and an insulin dose reminder;
b) MOODLE PLATFORM: 30 interactive e-modules based on Moodle targeting Physical Education teachers including series of Podcasts; c) Awareness raising Events (Multiplier and live streaming) targeting a wider audience of Diabetic patients (type I and II) and their families from all countries involved and above.
DART objectives related to SPORT action are:
1) to encourage a healthy lifestyle for all and
2) to promote the participation in sport and health-enhancing physical activity (2021-2024 EU WORK PLAN FOR SPORT priority)
Specifically, DART project aims to:
a) promote synergies between sport and health,
b) promote inclusion in sport,
c) promote health-enhancing physical activity for people with diabetes type I & II,
d) encourage healthy lifestyle,
e) raise awareness of the added value of sport and physical activity to diabetic patients and their families,
f) educate physical activity teachers and coaches about issues related to physical activity and diabetes,
g) use digital technology and more precisely innovative mobile augmented reality technology for achieving our goals and giving a digital dimension.
The project promotes transnational and across sector cooperation by the participation of 7 institutions from 6 European countries (ES, EL, IT, PT, HR and RO) experienced to all relevant to the project fields: sport, education, medicine and technology. Also, DART follows an eco-friendly approach during all phases of the project.
